You probably won't have heard this track before, tbh I wouldn't expect you to have unless you are a fan of the music of Jimmy Nail. Its the last track from an album called Tadpoles in A Jar, and whilst many have been dismissive I have always had a great deal of time for his voice and his take on the world. And of course I have a soft spot for the North East.
It seemed like a good choice, an ironic and somewhat flippant take on our PM, and the car crash of a week he had been having. All good.
But then I started to listen back.
And all manner of imagery from the last few days began to collide. The harrowing scenes from the channel earlier in the week, the senseless stabbing of a 12 year old girl in Liverpool, 'rape culture' in schools and just today the closing of borders due to a new 'variant of concern'.
Maybe the big man had it right all along.
