Episode 3

Shame on you.

W/C 24th January 2022

I first remember seeing Gun on The Chart Show in 1989, and was absolutely knocked out by the first single Better Days. For those with long memories The Chart Show was broadcast on ITV at 11:30 on Saturday mornings, and was uniques for having sections dedicated to Rock & Indie.

I toddled off to Woolworths and bought the cassette, probably from my friend Louise who was woking there at the time. Very quickly I was knocked out by the whole album.

Shame on you has a bassline that sounds a bit like U2, and there are hints of INXS in there as well but it was the energy and the relentless build that did it for me. I still love it now.

They seemed destined for greatness, indeed the video for the song was filmed when they supported the Stones on the Urban Jungle Tour in 1990. It never quite worked out that way, but the memories are positive and that first album remains a belter.

Stay Safe.

Anthony Short

I have been tinkering with audio since my mid-teens, recording songs & producing content for friends.

Post university I embraced the world of retail, firstly in supermarkets and later in & around the music instrument industry.

After 20 years or so, I took a sideways step into podcasting and began a venture called ashortstories, which helps in the development & production of podcasts for anyone that has a story to tell.
